Music Director and Conductor Rico McNeela’s entertaining and highly informative lectures introduce you to the upcoming concert program, helping you to more deeply understand and enjoy the music.
Held on the Tuesday before the concert at various restaurants in St. Joseph, these lectures include a delicious dinner.
March 24, 2020 – “Invitation to the Dance” At the Historic Whiskey Mansion – 1723 Francis Street
Built by one of St. Joseph’s first millionaires Ferdinard Westheimer; he hired Eckel & Mann to design his home in 1885. This young German immigrant came to St. Joseph in 1859 and opened Westheimer & Sons Mercantile. He expanded it to Westheimer & Sons Distillers and quickly moved into the growing ranks of the millionaire class. His famed “Red Top Rye” whiskey was available across the United States and featured in the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair!
