Friends of the Symphony

Become a Friend of the Symphony!

The Saint Joseph Symphony operates almost entirely on the energy of our volunteers.  Along with our board of directors, our Friends of the Symphony auxiliary group organizes fundraising events and helps raise money for our concert season and special projects.  We are in need of more volunteers to join our group, to help plan and run larger events throughout the year.  The best part of being in the Friends of the Symphony is that we only ask you to give your time.  There are no membership fees or ticket requirements...just a willingness to lend a hand.  There are only a handful of days each year when we need your help and even a few hours of your time could make a big difference.
Please contact us and let us know if you can help.  The more volunteers we have, the bigger and better our activities can become!  Click
here to fill out an information form.

Friends of the Symphony

The Friends of the Symphony (formerly The Symphony Guild) has been in existence for more than 50 years.  Although a very small group, the "Friends" is very active and strong group of volunteers.  The "Friends" have a monthly meeting, have fundraisers, and plan special events for the Saint Joseph Symphony.

One of the "Friends" biggest events was the "Crystal Ball."  Although, the "Crystal Ball" has not been held for the last few years, the success of the event and the fun that was had by those that attended, is still talked about it today.

The "Friends" board chairman serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Saint Joseph Symphony.  Several "Friends" also serve on the Symphony board.

Some of the major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Fund-raising
• Selling chocolate truffles at concerts
• Organize fund-raising pre-concert and post-concert events
• Preparing and selling Hy-Vee Gourmet Apple Pies
• Planned and staffed the "On Stage" event.
• Raffles
• And much, much more.

Hospitality
• Friends host receptions at intermission or after symphony concerts.
• Friends assist with the Saint Joseph Symphony "Musical Petting Zoo" in area schools.
• Friends serve as greeters in the foyer of the Missouri Theater prior to all concerts.
