09-28-2024 “Viennese Soiree featuring Lynn Spurgat" – Season Opener

We will open the SJS season together with an evening of music from Vienna!  Featuring prominent artist and Saint Joseph native, Lynn Spurgat. (Ms. Spurgat is a Central High grad and earned her Bachelor’s at William Jewell College.)  Her late father, Dr. Robert Spurgat, and her mother, Susan are faithful supporters of the SJS.  The evening will feature Arnold Schoenberg's light-hearted & whimsical - 8 Cabaret Songs featuring our very own, Lynn Spurgat.  Additional works by composers Von Suppe', Mahler and of course, the waltz king, Johann Strauss.  Don't miss this festive and meaningful performance!

12-21-2024 “Holiday Cheer 2024” with Guest Singers, The St Joseph Youth Chorale

Nothing captures that holiday feeling like Holiday Cheer! It’s is sure to offer you and yours a cherished experience at the historic Missouri Theater. This pops-style concert features Sleigh Ride, The Little Drummer Boy (a Saint Joseph staple), and of course a Christmas Carol sing-a-long!  Back by popular demand - the Saint Joseph Youth Chorale; under the direction of Karen Heyde-Lipanovich, performing music from, Home Alone.  We will have a surprise guest conductor and humorous musical anecdotes from our music director, Christopher Kelts. Reserve your tickets early - this concert is a big hometown hit!

03-22-2025 “Mozart's Requiem with St Joseph Comunity Chorus, Benedictine Chamber Choir & MWSU Chamber Choir"

His last written work, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem has brought moving musical experiences to audiences worldwide.  Mozart began the writing, and unfortunately died before it was completed, thus leaving his musical colleagues to make a "completion" of the large scale work.  The Saint Joseph Symphony is very pleased to collaborate on this powerful work with the Saint Joseph Community Chorus under the direction of Timothy Tharaldson. Guest soloists will add to the experience of Mozart's Requiem.

04-19-2025 "Bach to Mendelssohn"

Bach was a big deal - but only to the few who knew of him.  It wasn't until a young composer, Felix Mendelssohn, elevated the works of Johann Sebastian Bach that he attained prominence. Our season finale, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, features our own concertmaster, Chun-Chien Chaung and 1st violinist, Andrew Holmes.  It will dazzle your ears with myriad musical textures and memorable melodies.  The concert concludes with an ode to Mendelssohn's inspirational travel to Scotland. The SJS will perform his third symphony - dubbed "The Scottish" - to close another wonderful season of live classical music in St Joseph.
